Gilgamesh leaves on an adventure, seeking immortality and finally returning empty-handed to his home in the city. Here the re-transcribed words follow the contour of the paper’s surface, telling of the same return to the point of departure. There are triangles and empty spaces: this retranscription attests to the fragmented state of the original narrative and to the passages and chapters that were either reworked or lost.
